Frequently Asked Question
"Chowly Open Item" is Not Free Food
First thing's first: No, you are not giving out free food. We promise!
Even though something called "Chowly Open Item" is coming across on the ticket with menu items, and it makes that menu item print in your kitchen as $0.00, your customers were charged the proper amount. You will be able to see in your POS system and/or your Merchant Portal records that the correct price was paid.
"Chowly Open Item" Helps Chowly's Software Operate
The "Chowly Open Item" is something that Chowly creates for restaurants using one of a few different POS systems. We create it for these select POS systems because it allows our software to transfer over certain types of order information (customer address, special notes, etc.) and can be used as a fail safe to help push through orders in certain situations.
So if you're seeing the "Chowly Open Item" on a ticket, it just means that Chowly's software needed to use this feature (for one of a number of different reasons) to help put orders into your POS system.
We apologize for the confusing way that this feature looks on tickets when used. We assure you, weirdly enough, that seeing this "Chowly Open Item" is a sign that all is well with your Chowly connection!
